about

Blue Prints is a Mingus-kind-of bluesy thing, written for the Biggish Band by Merton Barrow, who is the long-time proprietor of the legendary Jazz Workshop, where the Biggish Band rehearsed for the first 3 years of its existence. Band members Jannie 'Hanepoot', George Werner (pno), David Ledbetter and Eddie Jooste (to whom this recording is dedicated) have all tought at the Jazz Workshop, and in the days before jazz could be studied at tertiary institutions in South Africa, Merton was the premium source of jazz education in Cape Town.
